Yugi and Yami must battle others with Duelist skills to defeat evil forces that threaten the world. They can call upon each other to do battle using monsters called “Duel Monsters” or just “Duelists.” Together with Yugi, they form a bond called “Soul Friendship,” which bonds together their souls. His grandfather gives him an old Egyptian artifact named the “Millennium Puzzle.” When he solves it, he becomes possessed by a spirit and then can see his soul, or “Aibou.” The spirit’s name is Yami Yugi, and he is a Pharaoh from Ancient Egypt. Yugi Mutou is a typical boy who loves games and puzzles.
